As a professional photographer and eXp Realtor® in Polk County, I’ve had the privilege of capturing some of the most beautiful moments and places our area has to offer. Recently, I had the honor of filming a performance by the legendary Cypress Gardens Water Ski Team—and what an incredible experience it was!
For decades, Cypress Gardens was more than just a theme park; it was the heart of the water skiing world. Known as the “Water Ski Capital of the World,” it captivated millions with its jaw-dropping shows, featuring gravity-defying barefooters, synchronized Aquamaids, and iconic multi-tier human pyramids. This wasn’t just a show; it was a global phenomenon that set over 50 world records and was featured in movies and television shows.
While the original theme park is gone, the legacy lives on through the dedicated members of the Cypress Gardens Water Ski Team. Formed by former Cypress Gardens performers, this team is committed to two goals: continuing to thrill Central Florida audiences and passing on their incredible skills to the next generation. They perform free shows monthly on Lake Silver in Winter Haven, keeping this beloved tradition alive for locals and visitors alike.
The team’s performance is a true testament to their passion and skill. From high-speed ballet lines to incredible jumps, every moment is a masterclass in athleticism and precision. Seeing the generations of skiers, from seasoned veterans to enthusiastic newcomers, performing together is a powerful reminder of the community spirit that makes Polk County so special.
